Learning Sprouts Schedule

At Learning Sprouts Children's Center & Preschool, we believe consistency and routine is important to our young learners!  Each day follows a similar schedule.  Actual times may vary, but this is the typical format.

  • 9:20 - Drop offParents drop off their children in the classroom.  Children have free choice play time of the toys in the classroom.  Each morning that students walk into the classroom at Learning Sprouts, we always have inviting music playing in the background.  Every morning we will have a play dough table with play dough tools and toys and home made play dough.  Some mornings we will have the sensory table open at drop off for the children to manipulate items in (bubble water, shaving cream and letters, etc.).

  • 9:30 Project & Sensory Play - Children will have an opportunity to work on a project relating to the letter of the week & theme of the week (please see monthly curriculum calendar for project details).  Children will be able to go to the sensory table(s) where they will be able to manipulate and play and explore different materials in the bin.  Each day, the sensory table is changed.  Examples of sensory tables are:  sand and water with beach toys, little baby dolls and wash clothes and soapy bubbles, cloud dough, etc.  Please see monthly curriculum calendar for sensory play specifics.

  • 9:45 Snack Time - During snack time a lot of learning takes place!  We focus on manners and using kind, respectful words during this time (such as please and thank you).  We provide children with a healthy and/or organic snack and filtered water (please see monthly snack calendar for the menu).  Often, we will read a story to the children while they are eating their snack.

  • 10:00 Circle Time & Songs - Each morning we sing our good morning song, "How many kids are here today.  How many kids are here to play.  Good morning ____, good morning ___, good morning ___, We're glad you're here today."  At this time, the preschool aged children at Learning Sprouts may be exposed to the calendar days of the week & months of the year.  We discuss the weather and the different seasons.  Children are also exposed to the spelling of their names, their ages, their birthdays, and the song of the month.  Each week at Learning Sprouts, we focus on a letter.  That letter corresponds with a theme (for example, during week one we focus on the letter A and the theme is apples).  We will discuss the letter of the week and introduce the letter and the sound the letter makes.  At Learning Sprouts, we will read a story related to the theme of the week.

  • Indoor Play - Children are given a chance to have free choice play in the classroom!

  • 10:20 Kids Yoga - Before heading outside to play, we may work on yoga stretches!  We listen to yoga songs or do animal yoga poses!

  • 10:30 Outdoor Play (weather permitting) - We have a wonderful, fenced in, outdoor playground with numerous age-appropriate climbing structures and picnic tables and toys to encourage imaginary play!

  • 11:00 Tunnels & Stories - When we reenter Learning Sprouts, children will have an opportunity to crawl through tunnels and tents!  We will also have books available for children to sit and read.

  • 11:45 Lunch - Like snack time, a lot of learning occurs during lunch too!  Children wash hands before lunch and then find their name tags and lunch boxes to sit and eat their lunch.  Again, we focus on manners and using kind, respectful words.  At times, teachers will read a story to the children or children will listen to a reading of a story on CD.

  • 12:10 Music Time - After lunch, children are invited to play a musical instrument to music!  We sing songs, dance, twirl with scarves, use a parachute, and clap to music!  We always sing the same good-bye song:  "The more we get together" song.

  • 12:20 Closure and Pack Up - Teachers help children pack up their bags and collect their items.  We line up and get ready for parent pick up.

  • 12:30 Walk to Entrance/Exit Foyer & Parent Pick Up
