Homework and Home-School Connection
Mystery Bag: Preschool Plus will participate in the Mystery Bag Home-School Connection activity. Each student will be designated a week. They are to fill the Mystery Bag with one object from home. Parents help their children fill out the “Clues” sheet with three clues about the item. The class guesses what the item is. Adjectives (words to describe) will be discussed during the reading of the CLUES and the object REVEAL.
Estimation Station: Each student will be designated a week to take the Estimation Station Jar home. They will fill the jar with one type of object (not to exceed 30 objects). With teacher support, children will estimate privately. Then, as a class, the teacher and students will count the objects. Number recognition, counting by 1s, 5s, or 10s will be discussed.
Projects: The teacher may send home some projects/activities to be worked on at home. Such as a beginning of the year All About Me pendant flag to be part of a whole class banner. This is for parents and children to work on together.
Homework: The teacher may send home some activities to work on at home with families (such as letter writing practice, number writing practice, shape drawing, etc.). This is optional and if done at home, can be turned in at any time.
Twice a month, the class will have a Spanish lesson with our Spanish teacher, Ms. Ale, which correlates with the weekly theme. Basic vocabulary, phrases, color words, and counting will be taught.
Twice a month, the class will participate in Yoga with our Yoga teacher, Ms. Melissa. She teaches yoga moves, stretches, breathing exercises and mindfulness. Ms. Melissa is so calming and relaxing.

Mind UP Curriculum
This research-based curriculum features 15 lessons that use the latest information about the brain to dramatically improve behavior and learning for all students. Each lesson offers easy strategies for helping students focus their attention, improve their self-regulation skills, build resilience to stress, and develop a positive mind-set in both school and life.
End Of Year Celebration/Graduation
At the end of the school year, children will participate in an End Of Year Celebration/Graduation. For the children “moving up” to Kindergarten, we will have a Graduation Ceremony, with each child wearing a cap & gown and will receive a diploma. As a whole class, we will sing rehearsed songs and showcase some work/projects they’ve done. Their special memory books that they’ve worked all year will be on display! Specialist teachers (yoga, music & movement, Spanish) will attend and participate in the graduation!
